CALVIN HARRIS // SURRENDER NIGHTCLUB // BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

Where do we go to see the greatest DJ’s in the world? Las Vegas, Nevada. While there are plenty of clubs with DJ’s performing every weekend, this Martin Luther King weekend we stepped into the Encore, sister hotel of the Wynn and home to one of the finest clubs in Sin City, Surrender Night Club. Doors were scheduled to open at 10:00PM, yet there was a line already forming by 8:30PM. We definitely couldn’t believe the size of the line.

Why was there a line and who were we waiting to see? None other than the world renowned Scottish DJ and Producer himself, Calvin Harris, who was officially celebrating his birthday at Surrender. [Who wouldn't want to celebrate their birthday in the Official Party Capital of the World?] He was set to take stage at Midnight for his 2 hour set after DJ Burn’s who opened for this 10PM-4AM event.

As you walk into the entrance of Surrender, you are taken outside where there are lights atop of the surrounding walls of the whole venue and a gorgeous pool with pathways to walk across. This venue is definitely one of the most beautiful clubs that we have ever been to. There was also a tent setup just outside of the main dance floor to extend inside the smaller indoor dance floor for this event. However, anywhere you were inside or outside the club, beautiful people were dressed up in their finest attire surrounding you; all ready to rage for this birthday extravaganza.

As midnight approached, Mr. Harris took stage and opened up with his hit “You Used to Hold Me” and got the crowd instantly going. Hands in the air, people bouncing to his music, and flashing lights all over the venue; this crowd was “ready for the weekend”. You could feel the energy as the crowd danced and sang along to just about every song he played. 2011 was such an impressive year for Mr. Harris, we definitely can’t wait to see what he has in store for this year. One thing is for sure, Mr. Harris must make another stellar appearance at Surrender Nightclub at the Encore soon!

Just take a look at some of the excitement that took place that night…

Kaskade x Marquee

He’s back….

Kaskade’s Exclusive 2012 Las Vegas Residency

Official Press Release:

Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas is proud to announce the return of Kaskade for an exclusive 2012 residency, which will begin January 14 and showcase brand new production content.  In addition to packing in the crowds with monthly shows at the nightclub, Kaskade also will play several dates at Marquee Dayclub this upcoming pool season, making Marquee the only club venue in Las Vegas where electronic dance music fans can take in the sounds of America’s #1 DJ.

Kaskade ushered in 2012 by playing a record-breaking 12-hour New Year’s Eve set and debuting an all-new show on Marquee’s larger-than-life 40-foot LED DJ booth with stunning custom visuals, state-of-the-art Funktion One sound system with 32,000-watt subwoofers, and beautiful costumed dancers. His mix of thrilling house and electro kept revelers dancing from midnight to noon on the first day of the year.

After an incredible 2011 at Marquee, in particular the Halloween and New Year’s Eve epic sell-out shows, I can’t wait to continue the residency in 2012. Having a monthly residency in Vegas gives me the chance to stretch out musically, play longer sets, and share some really unique magical moments with my fans. Vegas has exploded in the last two years, the parties just keep getting bigger and better, the city and Marquee are can’t miss destinations for dance music fans,” Kaskade says.

Kaskade’s recent double disc album ‘Fire & Ice’ (featuring Skrillex, Dada Life, Skylar Grey and more) hit #4 on iTunes Overall Album Chart and the Billboard Top 20. In 2011 he was voted “America’s Best DJ” by DJ Times, capping off a year that also saw him host the legendary BBC Essential Mix (his mix was voted one of the top four of the year), headline America’s first ever touring electronic music festival IDentity and sell out back-to-back shows at NYC Roseland Ballroom. His exclusive Las Vegas residency at Marquee promises to continue to push the club experience to new heights.

STEVE AOKI // XS NIGHTCLUB // DIM MONDAYS

There are two things that separate every DJ in the EDM world: first is the music and second is the performance. A Super DJ is able to take over the club with authority, draw the kind of response that leads to nearly half a million Facebook fans, garner some of industry’s best artists to collaborate on his freshman album and has a global-known presence. Yep, we’re talking about Steve Aoki and the iconic DJ/producer unleashed a Wonderland mix-masterpiece upon a privileged audience this past Monday at the infamous XS Nightclub.

For all of those who ever been to a Steve Aoki show, it is no surprise that the Dim Mak’s head honcho was participating in bottle popping, crowd surfing/rafting and whatever on/off-stage antics he does (now cake-smashing too), it never ceases to get old. Just like with any other addictions and vices we all have, it just keeps us feigning for more and more.

XS Resident DJ got things shaking right away with a great opening set and got everyone warmed up for Aoki’s upcoming electrifying energy. The energy instilled in the crowd seemed unsustainable but everyone at XS was about to find out that Aoki was about to fuck shit up. As soon as Aoki took the decks, he started off strong with many of his Wonderland tracks that feature several big industry names such as Kid Cudi, Wynter Gordon, NERVO, LMFAO and Rivers Cuomo which got everyone pumped up for more. Of course, he even included tracks from his previous catalogue such as “Warp” and remix of Cudi’s “Pursuit of Happiness.”

Hours of calf crunching, fist pumping, sweat pouring dancing; Aoki doesn’t let you leave the dance floor and reminds all of us why he’s internationally known. Whether you’re a hardcore fan or were somehow accidently addicted to the charismatic DJ/producer, Aoki gave us a taste of what to expect for 2012 before he treks off on his Deadmeat Tour. World-class music talent, confetti, beautiful people, flashing lights, and an unforgettable night are just a few reasons why XS Nightclub continues to prove to us AND the world why it’s one the best clubs. Look for XS Nightclub to employ some of the biggest and best EDM acts in 2012!
